Forum Uppsala-Örebro: “A Single Point of Entry” for feasibility studies

We offer assistance in identifying interested clinics within Sweden’s second largest health care region by reaching out to all seven county councils in the region. The service is under development in collaboration with the Network of Local Coordinators within the health care region and is a part of the national collaboration initiative “feasibility” lead by Clinical Studies Sweden.

The aim of “A Single Point of Entry” is to reach out to potentially interested clinics, investigators and patients throughout the healthcare region. During the build-up phase, the new service serves as a complement to the already existing networks between sponsors/CRO´s and clinics and investigators.

Any new feasibility submission will be subjected to a first compliance check before being circulated to the seven local nodes in the health care region. Ideally this check and initial contact with the company is performed within 24 hours, after which the feasibility study will be circulated to the seven local nodes that will reach out to relevant clinics. The purpose of the compliance check is to provide clinics with as relevant information as possible in their decision making whether the study could be of interest or not. The information that is recommended to be provided with the study submission without the requirement of signing a Confidentiality Disclosure Agreement (CDA) include:

  • Study rationale
  • Objective and endpoints (e. g. primary, secondary)
  • Study phase (I-IV)
  • Test substance/pharmaceutical
  • Inclusion/exclusion criteria
  • Potential clinics and any required expertise
  • Time and enrolment plan
  • Has the study already been sent to clinics within the health care region?
  • Latest date of reply upon interest

Submissions that are missing essential parts of the above run the risk of rendering lower reply rates and low success of attracting clinics. Under the present process, the submitting company will receive feedback from Forum Uppsala-Örebro on potentially interested clinics and will be asked to take direct contact with interested parties for further discussions and possible signature of a CDA. All types of studies and indications can be submitted and studies within the cancer area will simultaneously also be submitted to the Regional Cancer Center (RCC) for their regional feasibility process.
